A family legacy spanning generations awaits you in this 18th-19th century pazo, with restored spaces, period furniture lounges and almost 3 hectares (7.41 acres) of land. A historic architectural ensemble hidden in the Galician countryside, just a step away from the Lugo capital.
This architectural ensemble is located just 9 minutes from Castroverde and 15 km from the city of Lugo, hidden in a small village surrounded by nature. The ensemble sits on 28,905 m² (7.14 acres) of estate that includes buildable land, creating a historic enclave of great heritage value.
The pazo dates from the 18th-19th century and has been rehabilitated in three phases, the last one carried out in 1990. This property has always remained in the same family, passing from generation to generation while preserving its original historic character.
The property includes multiple additional constructions in different states of conservation: the caretakers' house, a chapel, a square-plan hórreo, stables, a large alpendre, a garage, a dovecote and an extensive farm area for livestock.
The ensemble is enclosed by a stone wall and trees that surround the constructions, except for the farm and the large plot of land, which extend outside the enclosure.
The pazo stands out for its stone walls of masonry, wide corridors, wooden ceilings, original period doors and antique furniture and pieces that convey the history of the property.
The pazo is accessed through a large door that leads directly to a grand entrance hall with stone staircase, high ceilings and three auxiliary rooms: pantry, storage and cellar. The ground floor houses an enormous lounge, also accessible from outside, a large kitchen with historic elements, two spacious bedrooms and a bathroom.
The upper floor is distributed through a landing with access to different areas. On one side, a spacious entrance hall connects with a large dining room with antique furniture, a bathroom, two large bedrooms and a balcony door with views over the estate. An enormous library-lounge at the front of the landing forms one of the most impressive rooms of this pazo, with stone fireplace, large wooden bookcases and a glazed door. On the other side, in the less rehabilitated area, a wide corridor leads to three large bedrooms and an office.
The caretakers' house is a two-story building that needs to be rehabilitated. It includes a small kitchen, bathroom, cellars and several rooms, providing a solid foundation for creating an independent dwelling. Next to this house stands the large alpendre, which preserves its traditional structure with stone walls and wooden beams.
The chapel houses a carved wooden altarpiece, and has two entrances: one from the garden, for the owners, and another from outside, which was formerly used by the village people to hold judicial and administrative meetings.
The hórreo-panera in Asturian style stands out for its quadrangular structure, constituting a singular element of great value. The ensemble is completed by the old stables, a small alpendre-garage and a dovecote.
The almost 3 hectares (7.41 acres) that extend beyond the walls include areas of buildable land, while the separate farm area maintains its traditional productive function, with currently operational facilities.
Castroverde is a municipality located in the interior of Lugo province, included in the Terras do Miño Biosphere Reserve declared by UNESCO in 2002. This protected natural space is characterized by its green meadows, native forests, wetlands and an ecosystem of great ecological value with countless places perfect for hiking and river activities.
The proximity to Lugo capital (15 km) offers access to a city declared World Heritage Site for its Roman Wall, the only one in the world that preserves its entire perimeter intact. The city has an extensive cultural, heritage, gastronomic and service offer, waiting just minutes from the property.
This Galician pazo for sale offers infinite possibilities to develop a tailored life or business project, taking advantage of its historic value, the amplitude of its grounds and its strategic location near the city.
