An exceptional stone house in a traditional Ulloa village. This historic manor preserves original courtyards, Galician hórreo and the structure of a grand farmhouse. Stately spaces await your restoration project in the heart of Galicia, surrounded by nature and heritage.
This fantastic property is located in a traditional village just 6 km from Antas de Ulla, 11 km from Palas de Rei and 65 km from Santiago de Compostela. Located in the geographic center of Galicia, the estate forms part of a unique architectural ensemble, where a magnificent pazo and several large stone houses create a village that seems frozen in time.
The manor faithfully represents the finest example of a stately farmhouse. Its construction reveals it belonged to a very wealthy family, evidenced by its large dimensions, the quality of its materials and the presence of architectural elements uncommon in the area. The complex sits on 775 m² of total surface area, with multiple buildings distributed around two large courtyards that structure all domestic and agricultural life.
The main residence of 615 m² built distributes its spaces across two floors connected by an elegant granite staircase with turned wooden balustrade. The structure perfectly preserves all traditional construction elements: stone masonry walls, renovated tile roofs and chestnut wood beam structure that bring character and nobility to each room.
The ground floor houses a traditional kitchen, several old stables that preserve their original layout, and a perfectly preserved cellar. Notable is the access to the first interior courtyard, where there is a large traditional wood-fired oven, washhouse, drinking trough and the large granite columns that support the alpendre roof.
Going up the main staircase leads to a very spacious hall from which all rooms are distributed: a large dining room, four bedrooms of different sizes and a gallery with views to the interior courtyard where there is a bathroom. The wooden beam ceilings and wide plank floors preserved in perfect condition bring authenticity and warmth to all spaces.
The complex includes auxiliary buildings of extraordinary heritage value. In the first courtyard is the large alpendre with granite columns and a traditional dovecote, while the second courtyard houses the aira (threshing area) perfectly preserved with its enormous stone slabs and another large alpendre-garage with modern stables.
The jewel of the complex is the spectacular traditional Galician hórreo, in quite good state of preservation with its characteristic columns and stone structure with cross finial. This element represents one of the most beautiful examples of Galician ethnographic heritage and confirms the historical importance of this grand farmhouse.
The Ulloa region, formed by Antas de Ulla, Monterroso and Palas de Rei, constitutes the geographic heart of Galicia and one of the areas with the greatest heritage and cultural wealth in the community. This land of millenary forests and crystalline rivers preserves intact the character of the most authentic Galicia, where rural traditions remain alive and the green landscape envelops us wherever we look.
The area stands out for its exceptional Romanesque heritage, with churches like that of Vilar de Donas in Palas de Rei, declared a historic-artistic monument, and for its proximity to the Camino de Santiago, which crosses the region connecting it with European history and culture. Pambre Castle, sole survivor of the Irmandiña revolts, and multiple stately pazos complete a first-class cultural landscape.
The birth of the Ulla river in Antas de Ulla lands irrigates these fertile valleys, while gastronomic tradition materializes in products like Arzúa-Ulloa cheese with Denomination of Origin and the renowned traditional bread baked in wood-fired ovens. Proximity to Lugo (50 km), Santiago de Compostela and its international airport (65 km) and excellent connectivity allow enjoying rural tranquility without renouncing urban services.
This property represents a unique opportunity to develop a life project in an authentic rural environment, with the possibility of restoring and adapting stately spaces full of history in one of the most beautiful and peaceful landscapes of inland Galicia.
