A unique architectural ensemble where pilgrims stop to observe its grandeur and appearance. Four traditional stone and slate buildings by the river, in one of the most beautiful villages on the French Way. A heritage legacy with spectacular views awaiting your restoration project.
This singular architectural ensemble is located in San Cristobo do Real, a medieval village situated just 5 km from Samos and 18 km from Sarria, right on the French Way of Santiago. The property consists of four traditional buildings that form part of the historic landscape contemplated by thousands of pilgrims each year.
The main house stands in the village square, adjacent to the Camino de Santiago itself, and is one of the most emblematic buildings of this village on the Jacobean route. Its continuous wooden gallery and slate masonry walls make it an architectural icon that has remained unchanged through the centuries.
The complex is completed by a secondary house with a courtyard, and two large traditional barns situated in the upper part of the village, from where you can contemplate incredible views of the river and the entire surrounding valley.
The four buildings preserve all the elements of traditional rural architecture: slate masonry walls, authentic slate roofs, large timber beams and the characteristic layout of historic Galician houses.
The main dwelling stands out for its wooden gallery that runs along the entire upper facade, creating the most characteristic and photogenic element of the complex. Inside it preserves spacious areas distributed over two floors, with a traditional wood-fired oven, stone stairs and all the rooms typical of a historic Galician rural house.
The lower floor houses the old stables, spaces with great transformation potential that maintain their original structure of wooden beams and stone walls.
The two large barns located in the upper area offer open-plan spaces of considerable dimensions, ideal for creating independent apartments taking advantage of the privileged views of the river and village. The secondary house, although smaller, has the advantage of having its own beautiful courtyard.
San Cristobo do Real is part of Europe's most traveled Jacobean route, the French Way, which connects with the prestigious Monastery of Samos, one of the most important Benedictine complexes in Spain, founded in the 6th century and preserving an impressive Romanesque and Baroque heritage.
The proximity to Sarria (18 km), pilgrims' favorite starting point to complete the last 100 kilometers to Santiago, guarantees a constant connection with the living Jacobean tradition. The village is immersed in an exceptional river environment, surrounded by native forests of oaks and chestnuts that form part of the Os Ancares Lucenses Biosphere Reserve.
Santiago de Compostela and its international airport are approximately 110 km away, while Lugo capital is 60 km away, offering access to all urban services without renouncing the authenticity of a unique historic enclave.
This architectural complex represents an exceptional opportunity to develop a heritage restoration project in one of the most privileged locations on the Camino de Santiago, where history, nature and Jacobean tradition converge in an environment of singular beauty.
