World Beer Challenge. Much more than a competition.
Only the best beers make it here. And in this 2019 edition, «The 1906 beer family maintains its position among the best beers in the world», having won two gold medals and one silver, «at the World Beer Challenge. In doing so, it not only revalidates its positions from previous editions, but climbs further up this internationally prestigious British beer ranking, which every year analyses and scores hundreds of references.»

Three exceptional Galician beers
«The company asserts that they surpass the nearly five hundred beer brands from around the world that enter this competition, where they are evaluated for quality and flavour by experts of different nationalities. This distinction has singled out 1906 Red Vintage for 'its unique character, with subtle notes of caramel and coffee that give way to floral aromas reminiscent of hops.'»
In the case of 1906 Reserva Especial, it was awarded for «its unique flavour of intense bitterness and balance, with a white foam of high persistence that remains in the glass throughout the entire drinking experience». Beyond these two, the dark lager 1906 Black Coupage, which recently joined the range, earned a silver medal with 94 points out of one hundred.
The jury recognised «its toasted aromas, a pronounced and lingering bitterness on the palate tempered by subtle smoky, woody notes with hints of liquorice and cocoa».
If we add to these demonstrations of quality the latest scientific findings confirming that beer brewing waste helps to remove nitrates from river water — one of its main pollutants — we have no choice but to drink beer this summer. In moderation, of course.
