Restore the grandeur of a unique manor house legacy with centuries of history within its walls. With a spectacular interior courtyard with arcades, more than 22 acres (9 hectares) of land and a second independent dwelling, this 17th century pazo awaits its renaissance in a privileged natural environment, just minutes from Lugo city.
This spectacular property is located just 6 km from Castroverde and 23 km from Lugo, a few metres from a small traditional village hidden among native forests and green meadows. The estate comprises more than 22 acres (9 hectares) of land distributed across several plots, and its natural environment guarantees a sense of absolute tranquility.
The first references to this pazo date from 1660, when the complex was still under construction. The property belonged to the powerful Osorio-Santiso lineage, lords who left their mark in the magnificent heraldic coats of arms carved in stone that preside over the main facade, with large marquisal crowns and motifs that tell stories of lineages, battles and Galician lordships.
The property consists of several buildings distributed on both sides of the access track: the main pazo, which requires integral restoration, a second dwelling of modern construction, an alpendre with wood oven and a traditional stone washhouse, forming an architectural ensemble of great heritage value.
The pazo is a square-plan construction of approximately 2,000 m² of surface area that stands out for its imposing presence and the exceptional quality of its architecture. Although it needs integral restoration, with deteriorated or collapsed roofs and floors, the stone walls are in good condition.
The heart of the pazo is a spectacular interior courtyard of approximately 200 m², with spectacular stone arches that form an arcaded gallery of extraordinary appeal. Within its walls, the pazo houses multiple rooms with palatial stairs, traditional lareiras, grand salons and a cellar, preserving original elements such as exposed wooden beams and stonework.
Separated from the pazo by the access track is the second dwelling, a modern two-storey construction in good condition. Next to it stands the stone washhouse, testament to traditional rural architecture, with thick masonry pillars that support its slate roof.
The complex is completed by a large alpendre located at the rear of the pazo that houses a traditional wood oven, from which emerges an imposing chimney that competes in presence with the one rising above the roofs of the pazo itself.
Castroverde is part of the Terras do Miño Biosphere Reserve, declared by UNESCO in 2002, which protects ecosystems of great ecological value with native forests, wetlands and exceptional biodiversity. A 20 km hiking route runs alongside the pazo through places of great historical and environmental interest.
The territory is crossed by the Primitive Way of Santiago, connecting the property with Europe's most important pilgrimage route. The restored mills of the Castroverde Mills Route and places like Cova da Valiña, the only Upper Paleolithic site in Galicia, enrich the cultural heritage of the area.
The proximity to Lugo capital (23 km), declared a World Heritage Site for its Roman wall, allows access to a complete range of services without renouncing the tranquility of the natural environment, while the beaches of the Lugo coast are just 1 hour away.
This property represents the unique opportunity to restore a heritage of great historical value in a privileged natural environment, with spaces that preserve the essence of manor architecture and complementary buildings that expand the transformation potential of the complex.
