Just a few minutes from the city of Lugo, this large rustic stone house awaits a full renovation that will breathe new life into its spaces. A complete rural complex, with palleiras, stables, outbuildings and land expandable up to 70,000 m², in a quiet village with open views over the landscape.
This property is located in a small village in the municipality of Lugo, just a few kilometres from the provincial capital. The main plot covers 2,316 m² of land, with the possibility of expanding the surface area up to 70,000 m² (17.3 acres) of flat land, suitable for cultivation and close to the house. Part of that land has building classification. The road reaches the property in good condition, ensuring comfortable connectivity to all the city's services.
The complex sits in a landscape of meadows and woodland typical of inland Galicia, with open views over the surrounding countryside. The property has three independent access points: the main one at the front and two additional ones from the track that runs around the back of the estate.
The complex includes a large two-storey main house, two palleiras —one stone, one brick—, two stables, an outbuilding, a threshing floor and the base of an old stone granary. Each of these structures offers different characteristics and possibilities.
The main house is a two-storey stone masonry construction with a slate roof. Its walls display remarkable structural solidity, with granite ashlar arches and pillars inside that are elements of great architectural value. The complex requires a full renovation of both the interior structure and finishes.
The ground floor is organised around a central corridor connecting all the rooms: a small entrance hall flanked by two stables, a large kitchen with a traditional wood-burning range, a firewood storage alcove and an additional stable. The ground floor also has an exit to the rear of the house. The upper floor, accessible both from the interior staircase in the corridor and from the kitchen itself, contains a large living-dining room, a spacious additional dining room and five bedrooms, one of them with a washbasin. This floor is notable for its unusually generous natural light.
To the right of the main facade stands a two-storey stone palleira in good structural condition, accessible from both the front and the rear of the estate. Adjoining it at the back is a stable with a traditional stone oven. To the left of the facade there is a small stone outbuilding with granite ashlar walls in very good condition.
To the left of the main entrance, the base of an old stone granary is preserved, alongside a small metal outbuilding housing the well pump. Completing the complex, a large new-build brick palleira of generous dimensions with sliding metal doors is used for storing machinery and fodder.
The layout of the complex —with the main house and the stone palleiras— opens up the possibility of having three independent habitable spaces with their own access within the same property, maintaining privacy between them.
The municipality of Lugo is the second largest in Galicia, with around 330 km² and seventy rural parishes made up mostly of scattered villages with farmhouses. This territory is part of the Terras do Miño Biosphere Reserve, declared by UNESCO in 2002, the largest in Galicia and one of the most extensive on the Iberian Peninsula. The Miño river runs through the territory from north to south, creating a natural environment of great ecological value with riparian woodland, wetlands and rich biodiversity.
Lugo is the only provincial capital on the Iberian Peninsula located within a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Founded by the Romans as Lucus Augusti in the 1st century BC, its Roman walls are a World Heritage Site and the only ones in the world that preserve their entire perimeter intact. The city offers a comprehensive range of services, shops, gastronomy and culture, as well as transport connections to the rest of Galicia and Spain.
This property represents an opportunity for those seeking a renovation project in an authentic rural setting, with a complex of substantial buildings and extensive land, just a few minutes from all the services of a provincial capital with centuries of history.
